About EVE Radio

EVE Radio FAQs

Eve Radio is an Internet Radio Station broadcasting live music and chat to the players of CCP's Eve Online 24 hours a day, 7 days a week since Eve Onlines beta period in early 2003. It streams a high quality 128kbps audio broadcast to thousands of unique weekly listeners and has enjoyed huge success with fans from across the globe.

It was started as an Eve Online beta period project by a couple of ISD volunteers and quickly drew the attention of a small, but loyal fanbase. After Eve Online was released and Eve Radio's existance became known to the small but growing subscriber base, it was decided to push it to the next level and relaunch it with a full working schedule in August 2003.

Since that time Eve Radio has grown massively, streaming to a minimum average of 150 people during our quietest periods and upto a peak average of over 500 simultanious listeners. During any given 7 day period Eve Radio serves a minimum of 10000 unique listeners, making it one of the most popular MMO based Internet Radio Stations in the world. Eve Radio has also co-produced and hosted several unique events, including the first Eve Online Alliance Tournament as well as the pilot Eve TV Alliance Tournament.

In December 2008 Eve Radio made efforts to push things to the next level once again, starting with a massive give away and competetive event to help pave the way for a very busy and exciting 2009 expansion.

During the course of 2009, Eve Radio fully reinvented itself and broke all previous streaming records, culminating with 1830 concurrent peak listeners during the first day of Alliance Tournament 7 with nearly 13000 individual IP connections to it's streaming services in just 1 single day.

Not too shabby.

Concerning CCP

Eve Radio itself is a privately funded organisation that has no legal ties or associations with Crowd Control Productions (CCP) and as such operates under it's own private mandate. We enjoy a good relationship with our friends at CCP and have partnered with them on several occasions to bring unique events to thousands of simultanious listeners as well as run a full 24/7 broadcast schedule with a generous mix of music, events and discussion geared towards the Eve Online player.

CCP games are in no way responsible for the on air content broadcast at Eve Radio nor are they interested in addressing any complaints regarding Eve Radio, it's DJ's or on air content. Please see CCP's knowledge base article concerning Eve Radio for clarification.

Concerning Content

As a privately run organisation not bound by terrestrial broadcast restrictions, Eve Radio is free to broadcast whatever content it deems suitable for it's ten thousand plus unique weekly listeners. At times there may be content considered a bit raw or close to the knuckle that you wouldn't expect to find frequently on traditional radio. This doesn't mean we tollerate race hatred or any form of aggressive bigotry but we do not pander to the politically correct whims of the self appointed "Decency Nannies" every broadcast medium is currently plagued with.

Every single Eve Radio broadcast follows a listening advisory sweeper describing the target age bracket the show is designed for. Those shows which contain a "Mature" rating are the ones most likely to cause offense and are not suitable for listeners under the age of 18.

If you are a sensitive soul who either lacks a sophisticated sense of humour or has difficulty enjoying a mature show without taking the comments out of context, it is advised that you tune out immediately so you don't get all flustered. In addition, switch off the internet. It's not for you.

Concerning funding

Eve Radio costs a lot of money to keep operating each and every month. We meet these bills mostly with generous listener donations and private inititives (Banner ads, merchandise and private funding from the Directors) but it is always a struggle to make ends meet. Our most lucritive advertising options were traditionally those we gained from Adsense banners we used to display on our website. Unfortunately, the vast majority of these ads promoted the RMT trade and as such, were generally frowned upon by CCP and players alike. We made the decision to remove them from the website at the end of 2007 and sought other options in order to cover our financing. Sadly, we haven't been able to replace the lost revenue during this time so each and every further month of broadcasting it is harming our personal finances more and more. The time may eventually come where we can no longer offord to continue subsidizing Eve Radio from our own pockets and we may have to shut down services permamently.

Although we are confident if we raised our target monthly listener donations to cover all our expenses we would be able to get them, however we think it is unfair to expect our fans to continually bail us out to the sum of approx £1500 a month. So unless we can secure reoccuring financial security to cover Eve Radio expenses, we will likely cease operations by the end of 2009.

What we are looking for is private sponsorship or a lucritive advertising campaign to help keep us afloat. We also would like to encourage people to explore the Eve Radio, TGR and Complete Gamer websites and give attention to any adverts that may catch your eye.

We are also happy to entertain any thoughts or ideas that may well assist us in securing long term financing, so please feel free to let us know by contacting us direct at (affiliates AT gamingradio DOT net) or via our website forums.

Concerning Diaego

Diaego founded Eve Radio during beta in 2003. He broadcasted individually only once during the past 5 years of operations although appears occasionally at the House Of Blades and is generally considered to be a mysterious and shadowy figure. He's kept around on account he subsidizes the vast majority of Eve Radio's additional expenses out of his own pocket. He also enjoys Mojitos and blue cheese smothered hamburgers.
